

Andy Anderson Wins Republican Picnic Straw Vote Andy wins with overwhelming support Brevard County, Fl – July 26, 2008 Andy Anderson, Republican Candidate for Brevard County Commission, District 5, overwhelmingly won the majority of votes at the 2008 Brevard County Republican Primary Picnic and Straw Vote. The picnic, sponsored by the Brevard Republican Executive Committee and the Council of Republican Clubs, was held today at Wickham Park. Voters were able to cast votes on machines provided by the Supervisor of Elections office. At the end of the day, Anderson had racked up 55% of the total votes over three other opponents. “This is a great indicator of Republican support for our campaign. I am honored to have such strong support from my fellow Republicans. Brevard County is ready for real reform!” Anderson stated upon receiving the results. Team Anderson Collects Required Signatures Petitions will qualify Andy for upcoming election Brevard County, Fl – May 16, 2008 The Brevard County Supervisor of Elections office provided certification of the required signatures to qualify Andy as a candidate for the office of Brevard County Commission, District 5. “Many volunteer members of Team Anderson worked to ensure the required signatures were obtained. Andy Appoints Campaign Issue and Policy Advisor Dr. Matthew Collins adds to list of experts assisting Team Anderson Brevard County, Fl – April 17, 2008 Andy Anderson announced Dr. Matthew Collins has joined his campaign as the policy and issue advisor. “I am always open to intelligent and common sense advice in our attempt to bring accountability to Brevard County. I feel that we have gained a huge asset with the addition of Dr. Collins to Team Anderson” Dr. Collins works as an instructor in the Department of Public Administration at University of Central Florida (UCF) and he is in charge of that program on the Cocoa campus. Before entering academia, Dr. Collins worked in the field of public administration as a Community Corrections Officer with the Henrico County, VA Sheriff's Office, as a Police Officer with the Town of Ocean City, Maryland, and as a Project Manager for the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute. Most recently, Dr. Collins served as Deputy County Administrator with Alleghany County, VA, County Administrator with Craig County, VA, and as a freelance grant writer and consultant for governmental and nonprofit agencies throughout the State of Florida. Dr. Collins earned a Bachelor's degree in general studies with concentrations in philosophy and music and Masters in public administration (M.P.A.) from Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Collins earned his Ph.D. in public administration from Virginia Tech in 2003. Dr. Collins teaches nonprofit management, fiscal management, public policy, ethics, strategic planning, and public administration and governance at UCF. Dr. Collins has been published in the Journal of Emergency Management and Disaster Prevention and Management. His research interests are in emergency management, the historical and philosophical roots of public administration. Andy, who is an U.S. Army Veteran and member of the American Legion (Post 117), recognizes that local issues are important to Brevard’s Veterans. The Committee will formulate initiatives that will be implemented by Andy when he is elected. These initiatives will include actively promoting Veteran issues and meeting with Federal Officials to ensure local veteran programs and facilities are sufficient for Brevard County’s Veteran population. Andy is also committed to helping recently discharged service members by facilitating transition guidance with the assistance of local veterans. “I want to make certain that current and future Brevard Veterans have access to all levels of government and they receive the community support they have earned and deserve. Elected officials often say they support our troops and veterans, but actions are greater than words - I intend to take action.” Andy stated.
